Enamel

Enamel is the art of fusing glass onto metal.

In this class we begin with the basics of enameling for jewelry including sifting, wet working inlay, stenciling, and sgraffito. Experiment with these methods to create variations in tones using both transparent and opaque colors.

Exploration of more in depth and advanced techniques include cloissone, depletion gilding, basse taille, and champleve.

Students will develop their own copper or silver pierce work designs, create earrings or pendants, or use flat silver castings of their designs as a final project.

Basic metal working skills helpful.
