Gemstone Pendant and Ring Design

Intermediate Level (basic silversmithing pre-requisite)

Create a Pendant or Ring with a modified prong or bezel setting for a faceted gemstone or a one- of- a kind cut cabochon.

Students can work from classical design patterns or think outside the box using unusual shapes. Ornamental design elements and the use of negative space can be used to create a unique piece of beautiful jewelry.

  • Setting fabrication and stone setting

  • Braided and twisted wire forms
  • Stamped patterns
  • Contrasting finished such as oxidised and high polish
