This class is an “open project”
Students will focus on a specific project that they would like to create – learning in the process the techniques needed to realize their designs.
Technical demonstrations will offer students opportunity to acquire knowledge of a variety of skill sets – depending on skill level of the individual and the design requirements of the project.
These include:
Wax carving with files, x-acto knives, and flexible shaft machines.
Hollowing for lightness. Stone setting creation of either bezel or prong for cabochon or faceted gems. Ring shank creation and sizing in wax.
Clasps, bails and hinges (advanced).
Students should bring on the first day a sketch or picture of your idea and any stones or parts that will be part of the finished piece of jewelry.
