In this open level jewelry course, refine your studio skills and explore beyond precious metals while we look at some alternative materials to incorporate into our jewelry practice. This course aims to experiment with and invent different materials. We will be introducing wood, concrete, wool (felting), plastics and more materials to our mixed metal. Learn and improve your jewelry making skills like sawing, filing, soldering, and forming. We will be incorporating our alternative materials to our metalsmithing techniques we will be learning in class. We will also be discussing what makes materials precious.
